Ekaterina Valerievna Krysanova was born on the 22nd of March 1985 in Moscow, Russia.

In 1995, at the age of 10, Ekaterina starts ballet classes at the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre (Moscow) and continues her studies at the Lavrovsky Moscow State Choreographic School (class of G. Krapivina and N. Speranskaya).

In 2001, Ekaterina enters the Moscow State Academy of Choreography (MSAC or The Bolshoi Ballet Academy), class of Tatiana Galtseva. The same year she wins the gold medal at the Prix de Luxembourg International Ballet Competition (Junior competition), and the bronze at the International Ballet Competition and Contest of Choreographers in Moscow (Solo category, Junior competition). While still a student, she dances as Lisette in R. Drigo’s “The Magic Flute”. In 2002, she is awarded the 3rd prize in the International Ballet Competition “Vaganova-Prix”.

In 2015, she became a laureate of the National Theater Award "Golden Mask" — for her performance of the role of Katharina in the ballet "The Taming of the Shrew"; she was awarded the Leonid Myasin (Positano) Award in the category "Dancer of the Year on the International stage"

In 2016, she was awarded the Benois-Moscow/the Leonid Myasin (Positano) Award.

In 2018, together with Igor Tsvirko, she was awarded the Dance Open International Ballet Award as the "Best Duet" of the year.

In the same year 2018, she was awarded the honorary title of Honored Artist of Russia.

In 2019, she won the Golden Mask Award for performing the role of Juliet in the ballet Romeo and Juliet staged by A. Ratmansky.

In 2021, she received the Benois de la Danse prize for performing the title role in the ballet Giselle staged by A. Ratmansky.

In 2023, she was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Republic of South Ossetia.

In 2024, she was awarded the title of People's Artist of the Russian Federation.

Over the years of working at the Bolshoi, Ekaterina has performed almost the entire repertoire of the theater - from classical to modern. More information about the ballerina's repertoire can be found on the official website of the Bolshoi Theater.

In 2003, she graduated from MGAKH and was accepted into the Bolshoi Theater of Russia. Her only tutor and mentor in the theater is the People's Artist of the USSR Svetlana Dzantemirovna Adyrkhayeva.

In 2005, she received the II prize of the International Competition of Ballet Dancers and Choreographers in Moscow (in the category of "Duets" in the senior group).

In 2011 (after 8 years of working in the theater) Ekaterina Krysanova received the status of prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theater.

In 2008, she was awarded the title of "Honored Artist of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania" and the "Soul of Dance" prize established by the Ballet magazine ("Rising Star" nomination).

In 2013, she received the title of "People's Artist of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania".
